It's been a big month for us. We just finished having our basement remodeled and like most people we celebrated by getting another dog.

It's A Girl!

She's a rescue (of course) and she's a little 2 year old Plott hound mix. If you've never heard of Plott hounds you are not alone. The breed comes from North Carolina and she is now named after another son of the Carolina's Stephen Colbert. It would be confusing to have two Stephens in the house so she's just know as Colbert. We prefer it to the name she came to us with, which was Oreo although she is as sweet as a cookie.

There's no telling if she'll ever make it into the comic strip. Granny is such a great character and I can't bear the thought of losing her again. For now we're just enjoying the process of her fitting into our little family.
