How does Bonnie Rate?

Conditions for last nights Bonnie Raitt show could not have been better.  The weather was perfect and the venue, The Pier Six Pavillion, in the Baltimore Inner Harbor, was packed with music lovers. Most of the crowd had more gray hair than Bonnie.  Our 8th row seats afforded us a great view, only marred by the fact that they discouraged any and all photography.

Mavis Staple opened the show promptly at 7:30. and towards the end of her set, Bonnie came out and did a number with Mavis.  I'd never seen a show where the headliner shared the stage with the opening act, but these two go back close to 50 years,  and there was a genuine affection and  mutual respect between them.

After a short break, Bonnie and her band of seasoned veterans came out and put on a rocking good  show, filled with the hits you'd expect and a sampling of tunes from her new album.  She also pulled out a couple old songs that she'd recorded in the early 1970s. She was on stage for better than an hour and a half, and despite warning signs against photography, I did snap a couple pics and got one video clip.  The video isn't great  but since I had to do it on the sly, it's better than nothing.

I can now cross this legend off my bucket list and far from a disappointment, I can truly say that this show was highly Raitt-ed.
