In the Market For Fleas

You would think that with three dogs living with us I would have enough fleas (and ticks) and you would be right. That didn't stop me from visiting the local flea market this morning.  Kathy left at around 8 am to fly to Rochester for my nephew Tommy's graduation.  This week I didn't have to be to work until 11:00 and since the dogs had gotten me up for a walk at 7, I decided to use these precious morning hours to drink coffee and see what kind of shit I could find.

On the way to the fleas I did stop at a couple of yard sales and picked up a laser level (battery not included) and a couple of DVDs. The flea market was as busy as I've ever seen it with tons of vendors laying out their wares on tables, tarps and blankets.  I was really only looking to add to my CD collection (I have one shelf which is not quite stuffed) but not just any CDs.  They had to be good and they had to be cheap.  I must say I hit the jackpot.  I picked up ones and twos here and there, mostly for 50 cents or a dollar each, but I found one (crazy) old guy who had a lot of disks all going for a buck each.  I plowed through his stuff and easily found enough good stuff to trade for a ten dollar bill.

The speed which I went through the market left me with enough time to pick up some lunch before work.  I stopped at a near by Hardee's but they were still serving breakfast.  I used their facilities anyway and remembered at Checkers Burger Joint that was on my way to work.  I stopped there and they had a special on 2 double cheeseburgers for 4 dollars.  Not willing to pass up another bargain that day, I got two and a large diet soda (gotta watch the waistline) and ate one on the way to work.  I thought about eating the second burger too but decided to save it for lunch.

I got to work a little before 11:00 and my co-worker Brian, who had opened the store today, said to me out of the blue, "I think I want a burger for breakfast".  His prayers had been answered.  I produced the still warm burger and told him to dig in.  I figured it was the least I could do after karma had smiled so warmly on me this morning.  Later in the day, he bought me a peach wheat beer from R.J. Rockers, which was also very good.
